The loungewear edit for her

The loungewear edit for her

2020 was going to be our year. Many of us said it when we uncorked our champagne bottles. Little did we know what the reality would be like. COVID-19 has the whole world in its grip and made our future unsure. The only thing that is sure now is that we will be spending quite some time at home.

Now, I don't know about you but I spend my days at home in leggings and cozy sweaters. Dressing up happens sporadically, on a date night for example, when I want it to feel as my normal daily life.

So if you spend most of your time in loungewear and you are in the market for a new set to wear at home, look no further! I have made a list of my favorite items by some of my favorite brands. This edit is quite extensive so the stories behind the brands won't be very in-depth. Saving that for another time.

Alchemist

Dutch brand Alchemist knows what's up. The materials the brand uses are sustainably produced, mainly natural and almost always certified. No leather is being used. Alchemist focusses on social-ethical and sustainable production processes and transparency about its methods. Reducing CO2 emissions is high on the agenda as well. The brand doesn't have a broad collection of loungewear specifically, but these pants and soft sweaters definitely count as cozy home wear to me.

ARMEDANGELS

Organic is not a trend but a conviction for German brand ARMEDANGELS. The brand approaches responsibility for our environment not as an option but as an obligation and solely relies focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. ARMEDANGELS is committed to fair working conditions and fair pay throughout the whole production chain. Sweaters Draaw, Aasmin and Helaa (picture) look like comfortable items to spend most of your time in the house in.

Baserange

Baserange is a line of modern basics with an emphasis on clean lines and easy silhouettes. The company works closely with innovative vendors to develop high quality textiles from both natural fibers and recycled content. Baserange believes that a commitment to clean production will minimize environmental impact and benefit both the producer and the user. Natural fibers such as organic cotton, recycled cotton or wool, natural silk or linen and bamboo are used at the heart of the brand's fabrics. The collection of sweats, such as these sweat pants and the matching sweater, are produced in small towns around Porto, Portugal, near the head office in Toulouse, France.

By Signe

Honest and sustainable brand By Signe produces the main collection in its own socially responsible atelier in Turkey called Moon Tekstil. Built on European principles, the atelier applies positive changes directly to the lives of the employees and honors the handcraft of manufacturing in a safe and healthy environment. The brand strives for all fabrics to be organic and GOTS certified. Is it getting obvious that I am into soft hues for hoodies and sweatpants?

Colorful Standard

Colorful Standard is not into seasons or trends. Timeless classic garments, such as these zip hoodies and sweat pants, are this brand's forte. As the name would suggest, there are multiple colors to choose from. The garments are made of 100% organic cotton in Portugal.

ECOALF

Spanish B Corporation ECOALF uses mostly recycled and organic fabrics. Social, economic and environmental fundamentals are in the brand's DNA. ECOALF gives a second life to recovered waste with a circular economy view and raises awareness about the global issue that marine litter presents. So far, the brand has recycled more than 200 million tons of plastic bottles. Some of my favorite items are these leggings, this sweater and this sweatshirt.

Extreme Cashmere

Amsterdam-based brand Extreme Cashmere has been dedicated to creating and producing the ultimate cashmere wardrobe for everybody and every body. All garments are made of carefully selected wool from cashmere goats that live in mountainous areas in the Chinese region Inner Mongolia. The brand only works with trusted suppliers that comply with the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), regularly ensuring that conditions are upheld and no steps in the process are bypassed. A shop nearby my house sells this brand and let me tell you, these garments are extremely soft. You can find the sweater from the picture above here.

Filippa K

One of my favorites is Swedish brand Filippa K. Their timeless and minimal designs and high quality garments make this brand a favorite of many. It does help too, that sustainability and transparency is high on the brand’s agenda. Filippa K’s mission to incite mindful consumption becomes clear once you have seen or worn these garments yourself. Invest in a few pieces of this brand and you will surely be happy with them for many years. Their leggings are extremely comfortable. And their sweaters are a staple.

Goat Organic Apparel

Dutch label Goat makes great basics for a fair price. This hoodie and these sweatpants are high on my personal wishlist after feeling the soft fabric in the store in Amsterdam. Goat is all about honest sources, affordable prices and fabrics that are environment-oriented. Goat’s motto: “Sustainability is not sustainable if it’s not accessible.”

Humanoid

Great designs with a recognizable signature can be found at Humanoid. The timeless garments of high quality ensure a long lifespan. Humanoid’s basics are made from organic cotton and make their return in every collection. My favorites are this sweater, these pants, this zipped hoodie and these pants.

Le Nap

The colorful pajamas from Dutch brand Le Nap look good inside and outside the house (remember the PJ trend?). These PJs are made of the eco friendly fabric TENCEL™ Modal. Silky soft and bio-degradable. Le Nap compensates the CO2 emissions for every garment produced.

Nanushka

Hungarian fashion brand Nanushka is booming. And I can totally see why. Considered details, timeless design, conscious materials, and quality are at the core of the design approach. And sustainability is a big pillar. The garments are designed in Budapest and produced in Europe (Hungary or Serbia). Click on this, this and this link and see for yourself why people break the bank for this brand.

Organic Basics

Danish darling Organic Basics gives it away by the name. This brand puts sustainable thinking at the center of everything. These wardrobe essentials come in eco-friendly fabrics only. And ethics are a top priority. Working only with trusted, certified factories, good working conditions and a living wage are ensured. Organic Basics only partners with factories that care about their impact. Searching for a pair of leggings? Here you go.

Pangaia
Even when almost the entire online shop is sold out - I guess many people are searching for a conscious choice of loungewear - I want you to know about Pangaia. This brand creates garments from innovative tech and bio-engineered materials. Bio-based, recycled fibres and materials made from recycled plastic bottles are dyed with botanical dyes made from natural sources such as plants and food waste. $1 from each item of clothing sold will be donated to SeaTrees

So Good To Wear

The Dutch brands are well represented in this list! The final Dutch brand I want to talk about is So Good To Wear. This brand creates slow fashion essentials which contribute to a better world. The garments are made from animal-friendly cashmere in a fair-trade workshop in Nepal. This pair and this pair of trousers look so soft!

Underprotection

Ethics and aesthetics are combined beautifully by Danish brand Underprotection. The brand designs two main collections and two smaller mid collections a year, which all include lingerie, loungewear and swimwear made in sustainable fabrics and produced in certified factories. I don’t know which onesie looks more comfortable. This one or this one?

Woron

Leggings are not pants, I know, but nobody will see me wear them as pants when I am home all day. Danish brand Woron is a personal favorite as well. Their items are from the softest materials and I always look forward to wearing them - even when it is just during my sleep. A strong respect for the people they work with and the environment they work within is at the core of everything this brand does.

There are so many brands to choose from! Whether you find good working conditions, sustainable practices or animal welfare most important. For more in-depth information behind these brands you can check their websites and send them your questions. Or ask me your questions! I have more time on my hands than ever before so I am planning on diving into the initial purpose of my blog: investigating brands. Next up is a loungewear edit for him. So get back to this space soon!
